ABOUT

In a Nutshell

Not unlike many others, I never thought I would be raising my children and growing my family while also caring for older family members. I unexpectedly began this journey in the summer of 2016 with my dad, just two weeks after moving cross-country with my husband, our newborn son, dog, and bearded dragon. We were surrounded by boxes with no time to unpack, and I had no idea what I needed to do for my dad. I was fortunate enough to have wonderful guidance for every step of the way for his care, which is why I am here. Hopefully, this can be a useful tool or starting point for your own role as a young caregiver. At the very least, I hope you can find a silver lining in which to relate and find some humor.

I am once again helping another loved one, so I will be walking a parallel path this time. I live near the Lake Erie shore with my husband, our three children, and our dog. While I am no expert on the complete healthcare system, I hope to provide advice to be an effective patient advocate while balancing the role of memory keeper, POA, and family member all while finding balance as a parent and individual.
